Our private beta is currently live, if you want to get early access fill in the form below:

What is a Waste Transfer Note (WTN)?

A Waste Transfer Note is a document created for the purpose of detailing a transfer of commercial waste between companies. Each load of waste transferred requires a WTN that specifies details of the waste and the transfer, this allows for easier management of the waste load and improves accountability for waste disposal.

The format for a WTN is non-standard, although a valid WTN should include the following:

Waste Description and Code: A 6-digit standardized code specifying the type of waste, and an informal description of the waste.

Waste Packaging: How the waste is stored (rubble bags, skips, etc.).

Waste Quantity: How much waste is being transferred.

Consignor Details: The name, business address, and permits of the company transferring the waste.

Consignee Details: The name, business address, and permits of the company receiving the waste.

Transfer Time & Place: Where and when the transfer took place.

Broker Details: The business details of the company arranging the transfer (if applicable).

Signatures: Signatures on behalf of the consignor and consignee.

Who needs to fill out a WTN?

Both companies involved in a waste transfer will need to complete a WTN for each load of waste transferred. If the type of waste and the companies involved in the transfer are consistent between loads (and the waste is non-hazardous), companies can use a Season Ticket to confirm these details as standard, and instead use a schedule document to track the non-standard information (waste packaging and quantity, transfer time, etc.).

Regulations covering WTNs

The act regulating waste in the UK is The Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011. Section 35 of Part 9 covers transfer notes.

Why Digital WTNs?

Our software is designed to make the process of documenting waste transfers as convenient as possible. We've listed our reasons why you should use SimpleShift below.

We've made our software as easy to use as possible. Complete WTNs from a template & search waste codes in-software.

Accuracy of Information

Eliminate handwriting interpretation. Reduce errors with validated inputs. Automatically alert admin staff when a new WTN is created.
